Prof. Ephrem Engidawork (Department of Pharmacology), Prof. Mesfin Araya (Department of Psychiatry), and Prof. Aklilu Azaz (Department of Emergency Medicine) are granted full professorship from the University.
ADDIS ABABA (AAU)–The Addis Ababa University Board reviewed and recognized three scholars as full professors in its meeting held on 9th January, 2018.
The University granted full professorship to Prof. Ephrem Engidawork, Prof. Mesfin Araya, and Prof. Aklilu Azaz, following the evaluation and recommendation of the respective colleges along with the review and approval made by the senate.
Professor Ephrem Engidawork, currently working at the School of Pharmacy of the College of Health Sciences of the AAU, is a Professor of Pharmacology.
Professor Ephrem has conducted a number of researches on medicine and organ interaction. Together with his colleagues, he published more than 104 articles in reputable international journals, and made it possible for others to benefit from these discoveries.
Professor Ephrem, who has spent over 20 years in research, teaching and community services, advised over 100 Masters students and three Ph.D. students. He is currently advising more than 20 Masters students and 10 Ph.D. students at the AAU.
He was a board member of several associations and editor of international journals. He served at different capacities at Addis Ababa University. Currently, he is Dean of the School of Pharmacy of the AAU.
Professor Mesfin Araya, who is recognized as a full Professor of Psychiatry, has undertaken a number of researches on mental-health. He has published more than 30 articles on international journals.
Professor Mesfin served in various capacities at national level. He significantly contributed in the establishment of the National HIV/AIDS Secretariat.
He was also the Medical Director of Amanuel Psychiatric Hospital.
He currently serves at the Psychiatry Department of the College of Health Sciences of the AAU as a medical doctor, researcher and lecturer.
On the basis of the recommendation, review and approval of the University’s Senate, Departments and Colleges, the board has also recognized Professor Aklilu Azaz as a full professor of Emergency Medicine.
Professor Aklilu has produced more than 45 researches in domestic and international journals on emergency treatment.
Professor Aklilu participated in several conferences at home and abroad and provided papers. He was the founding and president of the Ethiopian Emergency Faculty Association and the Ethiopian Anti-Doping Organization Board President.
Professor Aklilu is currently serving at the Addis Ababa University College of Health Sciences Department of Emergency Medicine as medical doctor, researcher and lecturer.
