ADDIS ABABA–Ethiopian Airlines is named the “Best Airline in Africa” for the second year in a row at the SKYTRAX 2018 World Airline Awards.
The award was presented to Ethiopian Airlines at an award ceremony held at The Langham Hotel, London, on 18th July 2018. The airline is awarded “Best Airline in Africa 2018” in recognition of its continued rapid growth, increased profitability and outstanding contribution to aviation development in Africa.
Ethiopian Group CEO, Tewolde Gebremariam was quoted as saying that “We are thrilled to win the African Airline of the Year Award for the second time. It is testimony to the continued hard work of our committed team and the successful implementation of our airlines fast, profitable and sustainable growth plan, Vision 2025. We are highly honored to receive this recognition from SKYTRAX.”
SKYTRAX is a United Kingdom–based consultancy most respected global air transport rating organization which runs an airline and airport review and ranking site by conducting annual airline passenger satisfaction surveys.
Ethiopian Airlines currently serves 55 African cities, the largest network in the continent, connecting them with each other and to more than 110 international destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas.
Edward Plaisted, CEO of SKYTRAX said on the occasion: “Passengers have voted Ethiopian Airlines Africa’s premier carrier for a second successive year and this is a simply fabulous achievement for the airline management and frontline staff.”
In related news to the airline, Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Academy has graduated 302 aviation professionals at a ceremony held at the Academy’s Commercial and Cabin Crew Training Building in Addis Ababa on Saturday, 14th July 2018.
The graduates are from the aviation maintenance, pilot training and school of marketing divisions of the academy and received their diplomas and achievement awards at the ceremony from Mr. Tewolde Gebremariam.
