Ethiopia’s IT hub Gebeya explores markets beyond Africa’s borders

ADDIS ABABA–Ethiopia’s first private IT hub has started linking professionals with clients beyond Africa. Gebeya is using its international connections to promote the first 100 Ethiopian IT professionals it’s spent the past six months training.

Gebeya is an online marketplace that connects top African IT experts with businesses to develop technology solutions. It was conceived as brainchild of Coders4Africa (C4A) in Ethiopia, with offices in Kenya and the United States.

Founded by Amadou Daffe, the CEO and co-founder of C4A and a native of Senegal, and Hiruy Amanuel, a young investor and self-made entrepreneur of Ethiopian origin, Gebeya’s purpose is to develop African IT talent while providing an online IT services marketplace for the African and global business market. It also seeks to expand IT skills, eliminate tech hardware and software needs for its clients, increase opportunities for African IT professionals, and reduce IT developmental and operational costs so more Africans can utilize these services.
