Mekelle University’s ICT Opens Huawei Network Academy

Huawei Network Academy is expected to offer services of capacity building and advanced level professional training which leads to international certifications to students.

MEKELLE, Ethiopia (MU)–Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA), a not for profit partnership program that authorizes universities and colleges to deliver Huawei Certification courses to their students, is officially opened at Mekelle University (MU)-ICT on the 19th of April, 2017 in the presence of Dr. Kindeya Gebrehiwot, Mekelle University’s President, who inaugurated the event.

Mr. Yemane Seged, MU’s ICT Director, on the occasion, made a presentation on current status, ongoing and feature projects of MU-ICT, and the need to have Huawei and HAINA at MU followed by experience sharing presentation on how to be HCNA-HNTD certified by Dejen Assefa (HCNA-HNTD Certified).

A visit to MU Data center was then made.

The opening of Huawei Network Academy is expected to offer services of capacity building and advanced level professional training which leads to international certifications to MU students. It also presents the students with industry linkage and knowledge transfer opportunities before they graduate.

Mekelle University is the first university to open this academy in Ethiopia and aims to be a regional training hub of HAINA already with  four MU-ICT staff HCNA-HNTD certified and two MU-ICT staff authorized HCNA-HNTD  instructors.
