RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.– RTI International has been named a prime contractor on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Power Africa indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract (IDIQ). Power Africa seeks to increase the number of people with access to power across sub-Saharan Africa.

Wayne Holden, Ph. D. “Our team is eager to bring together our expertise in energy and development and our extensive experience in Africa to help USAID and Power Africa achieve their goals.”
Currently, more than two out of every three people in sub-Saharan Africa—about 600 million people—live without access to power. Power Africa, which began in 2013, is working to add 30,000 megawatts of power generation capacity and at least 60 million household and business connections.
RTI’s partners in the IDIQ are Fieldstone Africa, Norton Rose Fulbright, and Hatch Africa. The partners bring expertise in finance, legal, and engineering and each have more than 20 years of experience in sub-Saharan Africa. Together with RTI, the team has access to more than 800 power sector experts with wide-ranging expertise in sub-Saharan Africa.
