Teddy Afro transforms Ethiopia’s entertainment industry

ADDIS ABABA (CGTN Africa)–Ethiopia’s super star singer Teddy Afro is said to have impacted his country’s music and entertainment industry positively over the last decade. Music experts agree his creative talents and musical works are transforming the Ethiopian music scene and its role in the country and the world. Here is CGTN’s Girum Chala with more.

His fifth and most recent album dubbed “Ethiopia” has managed to rank number one on World Music Chart in May 2017, at which time more than 600,000 units had been sold and became the fastest-selling record in the country’s history. Called by many musical genius, Teddy Afro’s success still continues as his album breaks Ethiopia’s musical records. In October 2017, Sheger FM Radio’s Leza Radio Show has awarded Teddy Afro for his ‘Ethiopia’ album and ‘Ethiopia’ the song “with “Best Album of the Year” and “Best Song of the Year,” respectively, on Listeners’ Choice Award 2017.
