EVENT: The 11th Annual Joint Consultative Meeting

VENUE: The African Union (AU) Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
ADDIS ABABA (FBC)–The 11th Annual Joint Consultative Meeting between the Peace and Security Council of the African Union (AUPSC) and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will be held on September 7-8, 2017 at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The objective of the Meeting is to exchange views on peace and security issues in Africa within the context of African Union and United Nations partnership.
The 11th Annual Joint Consultative Meeting will be one of the events to be held under Ethiopia’s Presidency of the United Nations Security Council.
Ethiopia will take over the Presidency from Egypt in September 2017.
A High Level Open Debate on the reform of the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations will also be held on 20th September 2017.
The 10th Annual Joint Consultative Meeting between the UNSC and AUPSC was held in New York on 23-25 May 2016.
The Meeting’s final agenda was set to discuss the crisis in Burundi and the mandate of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
