Senior executives as well as business communities attended the ceremonies when Abay Bank inaugurated its 168th and 169th branches in Jimma Town (Oromia Region) and Addis Ababa, respectively.
JIMMA/ADDIS ABABA– Abay Bank inaugurated its 168th branch on 4th September 2018 in the Oromia Region, Jimma Town, Hermata Kebele, around Shenen Ghibe Roundabout with the name “Jimma Branch Abay Bank.”
On the same date, the 169th branch of Abay Bank, “Gelan Condominium Branch of Abay Bank” was commenced in Addis Ababa, Akaki Kality Subcity, in front of Century Promotion Mall.
Both Jimma and Gelan Condominium branches of the bank were opened in colorful inaugural ceremonies with the presence of the Bank’s senior executives as well as the corresponding business communities.
The branches are integrated to the core banking system of Abay Bank since the day of inauguration so as to provide full fledged banking services with the state-of-the-art technology for extended hours beyond the normal working hours. Abay Bank will soon open other branches in Addis Ababa and other parts of the country with the aim of serving customers at their convenience.

In related news, on 4th August 2018, the bank inaugurated its 166th and 167th branches in the town of Ebinat (South Gondar Zone, Amhara Region) and Lafto neighborhood (Addis Ababa), respectively naming them “Ebinat Branch Abay Bank.” and “Lafto Mebrat Hail Branch Abay Bank,” respectively.

Abay Bank was founded in November 2009 and started operation in the first week of November 2010 with a capital of Birr 174.5 million and 823 founding shareholders. The bank has approximately 4,000 shareholders, a paid-up capital of Birr 1.33 billion (as of 30th June 2017) and 169 branches (as of September 2018) all over the country. Ato Yehuala Gessesse has been serving as the president of the bank since August 2015.
