ADDIS ABABA (Semonegna)–Eng. Kifle Horo appointed as the new Project Manager of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Africa’s largest gravity dam located located approximately 500 km north west of the capital Addis Ababa, in the region of Benishangul-Gumaz along the Blue Nile.
Since the death of Eng. Simegnew Bekele, the late Project Manager of GERD, in late July 2018, Eng. Efrem Weldekidan had been leading the construction of GERD serving as interim manager of the project. Eng. Simegnew Bekele has been project manager/lead engineer of GERD since the construction began in April 2011.
Eng. Efrem Weldekidan and Fekadu Kebede will serve as deputy project managers.
