ADDIS ABABA (Embassy of Japan)– Monbukagakusho, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) offers various scholarships for non-Japanese nationals wishing to study in Japan. In Ethiopia, the Ministry offers scholarship programs, called MEXT Scholarship, for Research Students, Undergraduate Students and College of Technology Students.
MEXT Scholarship: Eligible Nationality
Only those with Ethiopian Nationality may apply through the Embassy of Japan in Ethiopia. Non-Ethiopian citizens should apply through the Japanese Embassy/Consulates in their country of citizenship.
Types of Scholarship
The Embassy of Japan in Ethiopia only offers:

ATTENTION: Please DO NOT send original certificate (Example: Degree certificate, Master certificate, etc.). Copy is acceptable.
Please read the guideline carefully before you apply to make sure you meet the qualifications required.
Submitting applications by hand is not acceptable. The deadline for applications to reach the Embassy is 31 May, 2018.

The result of the secondary screening will be informed either by telephone or e-mail by the Embassy, most probably in January 2019 or Febryary 2019.
Those who granted a scholarship will go to Japan either in April or October 2019, in accordance with the direction from the Embassy.
