Russia–Africa Economic Forum to be held on 23–24 October 2019 at the Olympic Park Main Media Centre in Sochi in conjunction with the Russia–Africa Summit.
(The Roscongress Foundation) – Preserving national values and priorities is one of the most important goals that African countries face in the era of globalization. Developing nations, which are taking on a greater role on the world stage with each passing year, need to find their own identity in all walks of life. Traditions and national traits should become an integral part of the economic development of African countries. The session ‘The Future of the African Continent: Sovereignty and Traditional Values as Crucial Elements of a Development Strategy’ will be a key part of the agenda at the Russia–Africa Forum on 24 October 2019.
The session will be moderated by Alexander Malkevich, Chairman of the Commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation on Development of the Information Community, Mass Media and Mass Communications and President of the Foundation for National Values Protection. The session will feature speeches by Abdulrahaman Abdulwahab Noureldaim Saied, Member of the Sudanese Economists Association; Nathalie Yamb, Executive Adviser of the Liberty and Democracy for the Republic Party (LIDER) of the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire; Vaiva Adomaityte, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Admis; H.E. Marie Noelle Koyara, Minister of National Defence and Army Reconstruction of the Central African Republic; Chid Liberty, CEO of Liberty & Justice; Jose Matemulane, President of the Association for Free Research and International Cooperation; Samia Yaba Nkrumah, National Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) of the Republic of Ghana and President and Founder of the Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Centre; and Clifton Ellis, Founder and Chairman of the International Sustainable Energy Organization.
Economic and political sovereignty are the foundation of development in the modern world. The African Union’s strategic framework Agenda 2063 highlights the importance of preserving African values and Pan-Africanism. The discussion participants will outline the most pressing issues that dictate the future of Africa and discuss possible solutions. In addition, another important topic in the session participants’ speeches will be Russian assistance to African countries in drafting a development strategy, including in matters concerning the preservation of sovereignty and the right to take independent decisions.
“Preserving national identity is a prerequisite for the harmonious development of any country and an optimal foundation for building a successful society. This is particularly important for African countries, where identity and continuity are part of the self-identification of residents,” Alexander Malkevich said. “We deeply respect the traditions of other states. And we are ready to assist our partners in choosing the best path”.
