ADDIS ABABA (Semonegna.com) – The second edition of the China-Ethiopia Industrial Capacity Cooperation Exposition, which is expected to promote industrial trade and investment between Ethiopia and China, kicks off in Addis Ababa on 22 October 2019.
The four-day Exposition at Addis Ababa Exhibition Center is aimed at enhancing cooperation and building the capacity of Ethiopian industrialists by creating a platform through which Chinese entrepreneurs and their counterparts could exchange business ideas.
Wide range of industry, energy and agro-processing machineries as well as automobiles are among the displays at the exhibition. Some 46 Chinese enterprises from 15 Chinese provinces are taking part in the Exposition. On the sidelines of the Exposition, China-Africa Energy Cooperation forum will be held at Hilton Hotel, Addis Ababa, it was learned.
The China-Ethiopia Industrial Capacity Cooperation Exposition is organized by CIEC-Overseas Exhibition Co., Ltd (affiliated institution to China Council for the Promotion of International Trade), China-Africa Development Fund, Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC), and Ethiopian Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations (ECCSA). At the press conference during the launch of the Exposition, ECCSA President, Melaku Ezezew (Eng.) stated that more than 30 Chinese companies are expected to take part and discuss on the potential investment and business opportunities of both countries.
Recently, the Ethiopian government has gradually promoted the construction of industrial parks throughout the country, creating a favorable investment environment for more and more Chinese enterprises to enter Ethiopia. Both promote the industrial capacity cooperation between China and Africa and the economic development of Ethiopia.
The China-Ethiopia Industrial Capacity Cooperation Exposition comes in such an important time for Ethiopia when the country if taking a pivotal action to become an industrial hub in the East Africa to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) which the country joined in February 2019. AfCFTA, launched in July 2019 in its operational form, is an Africa-wide free trade agreement (FTA) designed to boost intra-African trade and pave the way for the future establishment of a continental customs union.
