“We believe the Union, through its convened members, noted well our nation’s ever increasing capacity to host international conventions of great significance. We are grateful for this,” Hon. Musa said.

Hussein thanked Ethiopia for accepting to host the Congress on behalf the UPU membership, which he said would be the first on the continent of Africa.

“I am particularly delighted that Ethiopia accepted to be the first country to host what we propose to be a permanent Mid Term Congress in the calendar of UPU. Ethiopia and UPU pledged to continue working together toward a successful Congress event.

About Strategy Conference

At the half-way point between Congresses, the UPU holds a two-day Strategy Conference to assess the progress made in achieving the current World Postal Strategy, address the challenges facing the postal sector and discuss the development of a more dynamic, competitive, customer-focused postal network.

High-level speakers from across the postal sector exchange views on a wide range of issues, and consider how to make the transition between the current world postal strategy adopted in 2012 and the new postal strategy that will emerge.
