China’s Belt and Road Initiative to help spur Ethiopia’s economic growth
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (CGTN Africa)–The Chinese government initiative of Belt and Road (officially known as “One Belt, One Road”) is said to assist the overall national growth plan of Ethiopia. The country is one of the two states selected from Africa to be part of the 40 plus billion dollars initiative.In an interview with CGTN’s Girum Chala, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia La Yifan said the belt and road initiative also strengthens the historic Silk Road ties between Ethiopia and China.
China’s Global Ambitions
Under the “One Belt, One Road” plan, President Xi Jinping is remaking global trade and nurturing geopolitical ties. The audacious plan, with little precedent, promises more than $1 trillion in infrastructure investments that span 60-plus countries across Europe, Asia and Africa. (The New York Times)
