EVENT: ADEY International Dance Festival 2017

ADEY International Dance Festival in Ethiopia will be hold from the 22nd to the 29th October 2017. The Festival’s program will include performances from: seven regional dance groups, a group of blind dancers, a group of dancers with physical disability, two dance groups of Addis Ababa and five international dance companies from Spain, Slovakia, Japan, Uganda and Tanzania. Moreover, DESTINO dance company will also perform and DESTINO choreographers will present a master piece that will get more than 80 dancers on stage!
DESTINO is an Ethiopian social enterprise born to support underprivileged young people in developing their inner-potential through dance. It aims at providing art education, creating a professional dance academy in Addis Ababa and spreading Ethiopian-contemporary dance in Ethiopia and abroad. DESTINO was founded in February 2014 by two professional contemporary dancers, Addisu Demissie and Junaid Jemal Sendi. Trained from streets to stage at a young age, the two dancers now wish to give back the chance that they were given.
The 2017 ADEY International Dance Festival is mainly funded by the Delegation of the European Union to Ethiopia and the Embassy of Switzerland in Ethiopia.
