Jano Band is a Rock fusion band from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. They are known for fusing and blending bass, heavy guitars, drums, and electronic sounds with a hint of reggae.
Jano Band started making waves in 2011, as a result of a nationwide talent search by renowned music manager Addis Gesesse and Ethiopian entrepreneur Ermyas Amelga. In 2012, they released their first album “Ertale”. The album was published by Trio Entertainment Pic and Rock the World Music. The successful release of their album propelled them to international markets such as Europe, America, Dubai and Britain where they held successful shows.
In 2016, Jano Band was nominated for two awards at the AFRIMA 3.0 for Best African Group and Best Group in African Rock. They have performed at various cities in the US and are in the process of releasing their second album, which will be mixed in Italy and mastered in America. In 2017 they parted their ways with the Band Manager Addis Gesesse, soon hired a new manager Samuel Tefera.
In February 2018, Jano Band released their second album called “Lerasih New.” Most of the songs in the album urge fans to be conscious of their actions. The engineering process of the album was done in BluMusica studio in Turin, Italy and the mastering was done by Lurseen mastering studio in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Jano Band is made up of eight members, 4 singers and 4 Instrumentalists (Dibekulu Tafesse, Hailu Amerga, Hewan Gebrewold, Haleluya Tekletsadik, Michael Hailu, Nathaniel Tesemma, Dagmawi Ali, and Biruck Afework). They were born and brought up in Ethiopia and derive their musical influence from singing in the choir to listening to such international rock and heavy metal bands The Rolling Stones and Metallica. From jamming together at different venues and festivals in Ethiopia, Jano Band has established their brand to fans worldwide.
