EVENT: Capture Addis Photo Festival

VENUE: Addis Ababa City Hall’s (Municipality of Addis Ababa) compound, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – Lela Qellem Plc., in collaboration with the Addis Ababa City Administration, is launching the first of its kind 7-day photo festival starting October 26th, 2019: Capture Addis. Capture Addis Photo Festival aims to showcase and celebrate our beautiful city of Addis Ababa through photography. This festival is open to all residents who can also partake by submitting pictures they took of Addis Ababa, to express the way they see their city in their own ways.

There will be three types of photo competitions held during the festival. All residents are invited to take photos of their choosing and submit their work into the competition that applies to them. Visit Capture Addis website for more information and/or to submit a photo for the competition.

Winners of each exhibition will be awarded a prize by the Mayor of Addis Ababa and winning photos will be displayed at the office of the City Administration. Winners will also have the opportunity to take professional photographs with key personnel.

The festival’s closing ceremony, which will be held in Sheraton Addis Hotel on 2nd November 2019, will be attended by the Mayor, invited guests, the diplomatic community, and various artists.

Lela Qellem Plc. invites all residents of Addis Ababa to pick up their cameras and truly, Capture Addis.

  • Photo Exhibition and Competition
    Date: October 26 – November 2, 2019
    Venue: The Municipality Compound
    Starts: 10:00 a.m.
    Short talks and Q&A from various professionals, different booth activities, photography training sessions for beginners, photo exhibition.
  • Closing Ceremony
    Date: November 2, 2019
    Venue: Sheraton Addis Hotel
    Dinner and by prize ceremony for photo contest winners.
    Awards presented by Addis Ababa Mayor Takele Uma.
    Jazz music by Samuel Yirga and band.
