ADDIS ABABA (FBC)–Addis Ababa City Administration’s Housing Development and Administration Agency today transferred a total of 972 condominium houses built under the 40/60 housing program to beneficiaries in a lottery draw held at Addis Ababa municipality meeting hall.
The houses are of four, three and two bedrooms and were built at places commonly known as Senga Tera and Kaliti Crown Hotel.
Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Dr Ambachew Mekonnen, Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City Administration, Mr. Abate Sitotaw, and President of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Mr. Bekalu Zeleke, attended the ceremony.
About 11, 088 people who have paid the full amount (100%) of the houses 18 months ago were included in today’s lottery draw.

According to Mr. Abate, Addis Ababa City Administration has injected a subsidy of more than 725 million birr for the construction of the houses.
He also said that the City Administration has so far transferred more than 175,000 condominium houses to residents of the city.
Mr. Abate further said the construction of over 94,000 condominium houses under the 20/80 and 39,000 houses under 40/60 housing programs is underway at different sites.
