Ethiopia Names Ashenafi Bekele as National Football Team coach
Ethiopia names Ashenafi Bekele new football coach
Ethiopia has appointed Ashenafi Bekele as its new national football coach. He replaces Gebremedhin Haile, who was sacked last year after a fall-out with the Federation. The Waliyas have struggled to reach a continental showpiece after qualifying for the 2013 edition of AFCON, following a three decade absence. The former Adama FC coach is expected to stem this run of poor results and get Ethiopia back on the AFCON stage. His first game in charge will be a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone in June. Ethiopia are in group F alongside Kenya, Sierra Leone and Ghana.
