Ethiopia’s Country Environmental Analysis (CEA) Report Launched

ADDIS ABABA (EDRI)–The launch of the Ethiopia’s Country Environmental Analysis (CEA) report held on March 5, 2018 at the Sheraton Addis Hotel, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Prepared by the collaboration of multidisciplinary team including World Bank’s staff and consultants as well as researchers from the Ethiopian Climate Research Center (ECRC) at the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI), the CEA report was presented by Dr. Hailesilassie Medhin, Director of ECRC, EDRI and Paul Martin, Lead Natural Resource Management Specialist, World Bank.

As indicated in the presentation, the CEA emphasizes on uncovering key challenges in the enabling environment in terms of policies, institutions, incentives, and information which can contribute to success in achieving sustainability and mobilizing investment.

The presentation highlights Ethiopia’s development trajectories for resilient green transformation; challenges in the enabling environment for resilient green transformation; recommended pathways for resilient green transformation; and key messages towards implementation of recommendations.

For each of these clusters, the CEA discusses their current intended trajectories (environmental trends such as degradation and pollution, and the government plans and strategies to respond to these trends) as well as the policies, incentives, institutions, information needed to put the country on green, clean, and resilient development pathway.
