Jimma University Medical Center and Starkey Hearing Foundation provide free treatment, and hearing aid devices

JIMMA (Jimma University) – Jimma University Medical Center has collaborated with Starkey Hearing Foundation to give free treatment, and hearing aid devices donation to the part of the community with hearing difficulties in southwestern part of Ethiopia. The voluntary service was given for two days, 11 and 12 March 2020, to a total of 1,090 individuals.

More than 50 volunteers of the Minneapolis-based Foundation traveled to Jimma, Oromia Region of Ethiopia, and supported the community in need and, with the facilitation of Jimma University Medical Center, 1,090 individuals of the community received free treatment and hearing aid devices. The campaign resulted in impactful and life-changing accomplishment to the community. The volunteers, including the University and the Medical Center’s community, are happy to witness the joyous reactions from the members of the people who received the assistance. The life-changing moments are remarkable and moving, and happiness on the face individuals, family members and people around during the treatment remains an energy for undertaking similar voluntary community services in the future.

Jimma University expressed its appreciation to Starkey Hearing Foundation and all the volunteers for the life-changing contribution to Jimma community. The service instilled hope to the children, and their families and is an act of empowerment the University cherishes. Jimma University Medical Center’s collaboration with the Foundation to extend this opportunity to the University’s community is also remarkable.
