ADDIS ABABA (JU)–Jimma University graduated 68 postgraduate students in Master of Business Administration (MBA) for the third time at Jimma University’s ABH Services PLC Campus, Addis Ababa. The commencement was conducted on Saturday August 12, 2017 at Sheraton Addis Hotel in the presence of government officials, members of the university senate and invited guests.
The class of 2017 in MBA have attended classes for the past two years at ABH Campus in Addis Ababa as part of the academic program partnership agreement between Jimma University and its affiliate, ABH Services PLC.
Jimma University and ABH Services Plc have signed MOU to partner in delivery of quality higher education and conduct research in 2012 in Addis Ababa. Since then hundreds of students have enrolled and started attending classes while working and living in Addis Ababa. These students include foreign and who are working at international organizations in the capital city. Including the class of 2017, 304 students have graduated in MBA and MPH.
Professor Fikre Lemessa, President of Jimma University, stated that the university will launch additional four new programs in the coming academic year (2017/18) as per the demand and need documented. These are Doctor of Medicine (MD) in collaboration with ALERT Hospital as practicum site, Human Nutrition (MSc.), Project Management (MBA) and Accounting and Finance (M.Sc. This increases the numbers of programs Jimma University delivers at its campus in Addis Ababa to seven.
Dr. Markos Feleke, CEO of ABH services plc, on his part stated that intensive preparation is made to meet the increasing demand for quality education including strict compliance to the curriculum of the university and application of the core philosophy of the university, Community Based Education. He also mentioned that agreement is signed with the second largest English Proficiency Testing Company in the Unites States, iTEP International to objectively assess the English language proficiency of applicants, students, graduates and faculty.

His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed with a rank of Vice President and Head of Urban and Housing Development Bureau of Oromia National Regional State and Chairperson of the Jimma University Board of Governors handed over degrees to graduates and special prizes and certificates to high academic achievers at the graduation commencement. In his remark, Dr. Abiy stated that a lot is expected from the graduates at this very important stage of the nation’s growth and transformation and reiterated the support of the government towards expansion of the university’s program in Addis Ababa.
