ARBA MINCH (AMU)–Arba Minch University (AMU) has graduated 5513 students on July 8, 2017 on a ceremony held at the University’s Abaya Campus Hall (College of Natural Sciences) in Arba Minch, Ethiopia. This was the 31st commencement ceremony for the university.
Dr. Damtew Darza Sozo, President of AMU, while addressing an opening remark and welcoming guests to Abaya Campus Hall, has made a comprehensive speech about the University’s statistical profile, academic and research activities performed by the University and its faculties/institutions in the academic year, as well as the University’s short- and long-term plans.
Guest of Honor on the commencement ceremony, H.E. Mr. Tagesse Chafo, Public Services and Human Resources Minister, has congratulated the graduates and expressed his gratitude to the University for the efforts made to achieve best results in education and research. In his speech, Mr. Tagesse said that graduating students need to have three important things when they face the world outside the university life: a vision for their future, adequate ethics and morality to engage in the society they are living in, diligent and hard-working character to reach to their goal.
Among the total of 5513 graduates, 534 students were post-graduates (Master-level graduates). Further, 1348 of the total graduating students were females.
AMU has six colleges and one institute providing 71 undergraduate and 89 graduate programs including 12 PhDs.
In a similar news, Addis Ababa, Mekelle, Adama, Jimma, Wollo, Haramaya, Adigirat, Assosa and Gondar universities also graduated students studied various fields of specialization on the same day.
