Wolayta Full of Investment Opportunities: Chief Administrator

Wolayta Zone is endowed with ample agricultural potential, livestock population, vegetable production, horticulture, cereal crops production, agro-processing as well as manufacturing opportunities.

WOLAYTA, Ethiopia–Chief Administrator of Wolayta Zone of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ State (SNNPR), Asrat Tera says the Zone has ample investment opportunities which yield greater rewards for potential investors in real estate, hosteling, tourism, manufacturing and agro-processing sub-sectors.

The Chief Administrator tells to The Ethiopian Herald that the Zone is endowed with diverse natural resources, cultures, favorable climate, trainable labor force and infrastructure which will conform to potential investors.

Mentioning the special features of the area, Asrat adding that there are seven gates across various directions of the Zone having asphalt roads which facilitates an easy access to local markets.

According to him, Wolayta Zone is favorable for investment due to its suitable climatic conditions. He also emphasizes the Zone is endowed with ample agricultural potential, livestock population, vegetable production, horticulture, cereal crops production, agro-processing as well as manufacturing opportunities.

While explaining the Zone’s tourism potential, the Chief Administrator says Wolayta Zone has attractive tourist destinations including Ajora Falls and Mochona Borabo Cave and other breathtaking natural tourist attractions.

He says, “As the GIBE-III Dam is situated around the Zone, there is a fully-fledged electricity infrastructure in the area with a total capacity of generating 400 MW electric power and the area is blessed with abundant water resources.”

Underlining the conducive investment policy direction of the government, Asrat notes that zonal officials at all levels are keen to support investors want to invest in the Zone.

As far as security is concerned, the Chief Administrator explains that peoples with different ethnic and linguistic backgrounds live in harmony in security threat is not an issue in the area.

Wolyta Zone, one of the Zones in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ State, has 12 Woredas and three town Administrations with an estimated number of over three million population.
