Confucius Institute holds cultural competition in Addis Ababa
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (CGTN Africa)–The Confucius Institute in Addis Ababa has held a Chinese proficiency competition. The initiative aims to foster cultural ties between China and Ethiopia and provide learning opportunities. A total of fifteen contestants from across East Africa were in the running. They spoke in Chinese language about Sino-African relations, and took part in talent shows highlighting their understanding of Chinese culture. The event is organized annually by the Confucius Institute (based in Xicheng District of Beijing, China) in collaboration with the Embassy of The People’s Republic of China in Ethiopia. The regional winner is invited to participate in the finals, which will be held in China.
